As I’ve asked for help on Reddit to find a place to ask for actors, I figured I’d list the descriptions I’ve worked up for the principal roles. My budget for “Treasure Hunt” now allows me to pay each $1,000 for the job. I expect shooting to take 4-5 weekends starting mid to late September (2018), plus some rehearsal before. The bulk of the filming will be done at our property in Shenandoah County (about a half hour North of Harrisonburg, VA) with a day or two at and near our house in Silver Spring, MD. I expect to begin casting in mid July.
MAX (co-lead), male, early 20’s (junior in college), race open. Handsome and built, but focused on his studies. Used to be very much a player, but his major is pre-med and girls are an unacceptable distraction. He’s best friends with Harry. Max is taking a class on Civil War history to spend some extra time with Harry and for what he considers an easy A. There will be some singing, a PG-13 love scene and pictures in swim trunks.
HARRY (co-lead), male, early 20’s (junior in college), race open, wears glasses. Good looking, but bookish and nerdy; a history major. Has had girlfriends, but his myopic interests in history, particularly the Civil War, meant he never gave them the attention they deserved. His family traces it lineage in the Shenandoah Valley back to the pre Civil War era, and he had a number of relatives involved in the war, mostly on the Confederate side. He and Max are best friends and he convinced Max to take a class on Civil War history to hang out more, and promised to coach Max to an easy A. There will be some singing and pictures in swim trunks.
KAYLA (co-lead), woman, early 20’s (junior in college), race open. Beautiful, but focused on her studies. Her major is physics, with a deep interest in exploding stars, and she’s working hard to get some research done that should give her her pick of graduate schools. She used to very much play the field, but now thinks only about her studies and research, so has temporarily given up men. She and Velma are best friends. Velma convinced her to give her brain a break and take a class on the Civil War, plus they could spend more time together. There will be some singing, a PG-13 love scene and and pictures in a bikini.
VELMA (co-lead), woman, early 20’s (junior in college), race open, wears glasses. Good looking, but bookish and nerdy; a history major with a strong interest in the Civil War, particularly in the Shenandoah Valley. She’s had a number of brief boyfriends and dated, but finds it hard to care about the same things that ‘ordinary’ people care about, so gave it up as unsatisfying. Her family traces its lineage back to when the Shenandoah Valley was first settled. Her relatives were involved in the Civil War, primarily on the Confederate side. She and Kayla are best friends and she convinced Kayla to join her in a class on the Civil War. There will be some singing and pictures in a bikini.
